The best part about college football are the gamedays. Some schools have a more extensive tailgating scene, some have a great bar culture, and some choose to “takeover” other towns when it’s an away day. Here’s our Top 20 fanbases that travel the best:

Nebraska Cornhuskers: First place was an easy pick. Husker fans have a reputation for being everywhere across all sports, particularly in football. In recent years, they’ve invaded Boulder when the matchup with rival Colorado has been played.

Florida State Seminoles: Noles fans travel all over the ACC to see their team play, ensuring that FSU is never playing in too hostile of an environment. Seminole faithful is kicking off the 2024 season in Ireland, where it’s expected that they will have another big showout versus Georgia Tech.

Georgia Bulldogs: Georgia fans are well known for their takeover of famed Notre Dame Stadium in 2017, in which their fans took over half the stadium. The Dawg faithful travel in packs & are considered one of the most diehard in the SEC, even before their recent success.

Clemson Tigers: Despite the bar being lowered in recent years, Clemson fans are still known for traveling to support their team. They have a really strong showing everywhere for a town of just under 20,000 permanent residents.

Tennessee Volunteers: Widely considered as the craziest(in a good way) fanbase in the nation, Vol fans peaked during the 2022 season. It all culminated in the last game of the season at rival Vanderbilt, in which Tennessee fans made plans to “checker” Vanderbilt’s stadium by buying up tickets and coordinating colors. It wasn’t a perfect success, but even attempting this feat earns the Vols a Top 5 spot.

Here’s the rest of the Top 20:

Ohio State Buckeyes
LSU Tigers
Kansas State Wildcats
Auburn Tigers
Oklahoma Sooners
Penn State Nittany Lions
Virginia Tech Hokies
North Dakota State Bison
Alabama Crimson Tide
Michigan Wolverines
Texas A&M Aggies
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
BYU Cougars
USC Trojans
Iowa Hawkeyes

It’s important to note that we lowered teams with national fanbases such as BYU & Notre Dame, as while their fans may have a heavy presence at away games, they often aren’t “traveling fans”. Instead, these fans are often local alumni or fans that attend the game to support their team as opposed to traveling fans who go to away games for the primary purpose of watching a sporting event.
